The Ursula Foundation has stepped in to assist Labone Senior High School after a fire devastated the girls’ dormitory, resulting in numerous students being left without shelter and critical resources being damaged.
As an act of unity and backing, the ex-MP and minister’s organization bestowed a variety of crucial aid materials upon the educational institution.
The contribution comprised 100 units of 25kg sacks of rice, 100 plastic chairs, 20 bundles of mattresses, 50 units of 50kg bags of maize, 3 packages containing 100kg each of gari, and 4 packets holding 100kg each of beans. These provisions are intended to address the urgent needs confronting the educational institution.
The items were handed over on behalf of the foundation by several prominent members including William Adu, Faustina Kisse, and Rita Appiah, at a short ceremony conducted on the school grounds.
Alongside the foundation executives were other members from the class of 1982 alumni association, with one notable member being Mrs. Ursula Owusu, the founder of the Ursula Foundation.
Mr. William Adu presented the items to the school and shared the sincere feelings of the foundation’s members. He voiced his profound distress at learning about the fire incident and reaffirmed the foundation’s steadfast dedication to assisting the school however they can.
“The organization was deeply shaken by the news of the fire and promptly decided to offer assistance. This school played a crucial role in molding our founder, and during such challenging times, we believe it is our duty to support the institution that contributed to shaping her into the person she is today,” stated Mr. Adu.
The contribution was enthusiastically welcomed by the school principal, Madame Rejoice Acolor. On behalf of the institution’s leadership, faculty, and pupils, she conveyed profound thankfulness. She highlighted that this act was both well-timed and highly motivational.
“This contribution couldn’t have arrived at a more opportune moment. We were facing challenges in reallocating our resources following the event, and this assistance instills hope, solace, and a feeling of rejuvenation among the students who were hardest hit,” she stated.
The president of the 1982 year group, Mr. Gabriel Annor, also commended the foundation and Mrs. Ursula Owusu for their generosity and strong sense of community. He called on other alumni and stakeholders to emulate her example.
This gesture of kindness says a lot about the principles we uphold. Collectively as a year group, we are motivated and will keep seeking opportunities to assist the school through these challenging times,” he said.
The school community, who were still recovering from the effects of the fire, received the donation with enthusiastic applause and deep gratitude, as both students and educators came together to see the ceremony.
