Colombo, April 23 — Authorities from the Wellampitiya Police have detained three persons for interrogation regarding the killing of social activist and municipal council contender Dan Priyasad, as reported by a high-ranking police official.
The individuals were apprehended for allegedly supplying details to the assailants who participated in the incident.
The authorities stated that the incident took place as Priyasad was present at a gathering involving five people total, including him, inside his relatives’ home. The perpetrators were positioned in a hallway when attackers wielding firearms barged into the location, discharged their weapons, then quickly made off from the area.
Ongoing investigations aim to pinpoint the assailants and uncover the reason for the murder.
