…States Governor Must Resign After Being Backed by PDP

LAGOS – The former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has voiced his concerns about Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He finds it surprising that leaders like governors are moving from a structured political party to one he considers less organized.

George, who stated this in a press statement on Wednesday, noted that Oborevwori has to vacate the office since he was sponsored by the main opposition party to that office.

He stated, “I am stunned. How could leaders from a structured political party abandon their positions for one as disorganized as the APC, where just Tinubu and Ganduje seemingly have autocratic control over the entire organization?”

APC is a coalition of unusual allies, and I encourage people in Delta State not to join Oborevwori in switching to the APC party sinceDelta has been a stronghold for the PDP since 1999 and should continue to be.

“The presidency and the APC are employing government resources to pressure PDP governors into switching allegiance to the APC. These governors face threats. The PDP supported Oborevwori for the gubernatorial position; therefore, he must vacate his seat. However, efforts to transform Nigeria into a single-party system will not succeed. I wonder what the APC has accomplished since 2015 that would prompt any PDP governor to consider joining their ranks,” he stated additionally.
