India Boots Pakistani Military Advisors, Closes Border After Pahalgam Attack

], April 23 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs briefed mediapersons on Wednesday about the slew of measures announced in the wake of the dastardly terrorist attack which took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Foreign Secretary
Vikram Misri
indicated that acknowledging the gravity of the terrorist attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security (
CCS
) agreed on the following actions, which encompassed five main resolutions.

Misri stated, “The advisors for Defense/Military, Navy, and Air Force in the
Pakistan
The high commission officials in New Delhi have been declared Persona Non Grata. They must depart within a week.

will remove its own Defense/Naval/Air Advisers from the

The positions at the High Commission in Islamabad have been rendered obsolete. Additionally, five supporting personnel associated with the Service Advisors will be recalled from both High Commissions.

He likewise stated that the Integrated Check Post at
Attari
will be shut down immediately.

Misri stated, “Individuals who have transited using legitimate permits can come back via the same path up until May 1, 2025.”

Other steps determined by the
CCS
include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty “effective immediately, until
Pakistan
faithfully and unalterably withdraws its backing from cross-border terrorism”.

Misri also said that
Pakistan
National citizens will not be allowed to travel abroad.

under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas. “Any SVES visas issued in the past to

The Foreign Secretary said that the overall strength of the High Commissions will be brought down to 30 from the present 55 through further reductions, to be effected by May 1, 2025.

Misrī informed media personnel that the
CCS
assessed the general security scenario and instructed all units to remain at heightened alert. “The resolution stated that those responsible for the assault will face justice, and support networks behind them will also be held accountable.”

The Pahalgam terrorist incident ranks among the most significant attacks since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019. In response to this act of terrorism, security personnel initiated search missions on Wednesday aimed at locating those behind the assault. (ANI)
