conducting nuclear discussions with the United States, the Foreign Minister
Wang Yi
informed his visiting Iranian counterpart on Wednesday, with both chief diplomats criticizing the United States for its foreign policy approaches.
In their meeting in Beijing, Wang and Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S. for its use of “tariff abuse” and “intimidation tactics,” as stated in a report from the Chinese foreign ministry.
Wang stated that China has consistently supported a political and diplomatic resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue and opposes the frequent use of military action and unlawful individual sanctions.

Araghchi arrived in Beijing at Wang’s request and prior to a third round of nuclear discussions scheduled between Tehran and Washington.

It was reported that the top officials engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding the most recent advancements in Iran’s nuclear scenario.
Wang said China appreciated Iran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons, respected the country’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and supported its dialogue with all parties, including the US.
The foreign minister added that Beijing backed Tehran’s safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests through consultation and negotiation in the interest of international nuclear non-proliferation as well as regional peace and stability.
In the meantime, Araghchi expressed appreciation for China’s efforts in fostering a political and diplomatic resolution to the Iran nuclear situation, as stated in the communiqué. He also pledged to maintain frequent communication and collaboration with Beijing.
Amid China’s stand-off with the US in an
escalating tariff war
, Wang described China and Iran as “in the same boat helping each other”.
“The world today is in chaos,” the veteran diplomat said. “The United States, who is abusing tariffs, has lost the hearts and minds of the people and isolated itself from the international community.”
China and Iran were collaborating “against unilateral actions and bullying tactics,” Wang stated additionally.
Araghchi mentioned that their relationship was founded on reciprocal trust, adding that Iran supported China in safeguarding its essential interests, according to the statement released.
Araghchi stated that despite the U.S. abusing tariffs and exerting pressure, Iran will steadfastly back China, collectively resist unilateralism and hegemony, and work alongside to uphold multilateralism.
The bond of friendship between these two nations is firmly established and won’t be swayed by external elements.
The foreign ministers concurred on enhancing dialogue and cooperation within multilateral forums like the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

Brics
, an organization comprising major developing nations.
The discussion included regional matters such as the Israel-Gaza conflict, the situation in Syria, the crisis in Yemen, and recent events in the Red Sea, according to the statement.
