2027 Warning: Timi Frank Urges North and South to Resist Tinubu’s Tactics

LAGOS – Timi Frank, who previously served as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned Nigerians against being deceived by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tactics aimed at securing power once more and dominating the political landscape in 2027.

Frank who made this call in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, specifically urged northern and southern leaders including opposition parties to resist Tinubu’s desperate 2027 presidential bid.

He revealed that while Tinubu is on the one hand blackmailing Southerners, especially opposition governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) by playing the ethnic card to gain support, he is on the other hand threatening to deal with them if they fail to support him by declaring a state of emergency in their states over spurious charges of violence and corruption.

He has now intensified his efforts by resorting to blackmail, intimidation, and exerting pressure on at least five PDP governors from the South to defect alongside their supporters in the National Assembly to join the APC.

“To Tinubu, the 2027 election is about him versus the North and that is why he is trying desperately to enlist the support of the South through manipulation and subterfuge.

“He has already forgotten how quickly the North assisted him in gaining power back in 2023,” he stated.

According to the Bayelsa-born political activist, 2027 should not be about North or South but who would fix the myriads of challenges confronting the country, including incessant killings, kidnappings and banditry as well as the harsh economic conditions foisted on the masses by Tinubu through fuel subsidy removal, increased electricity tariff and high cost of food and other essential services.

He stated: “What Nigerians require is a leader who can contribute to improving the country, rather than focusing on ‘a Northern candidate versus a Southern candidate’ or ‘a Northern President versus a Southern President.'”

The nation is already burdened with rifts driven by ethnicity. Consequently, we cannot risk having a president who fuels disputes between regions just to pursue their individual ambitions.

For me, Timi Frank, being from the South, I do not support a president who promotes tribalism and division. Instead, I advocate for a leader who will unify Nigeria rather than create divisions.

I urge all Northerners who continue to back Tinubu to reconsider their position. They ought to understand that those from the North who seemingly ‘aided’ Tinubu in achieving power in 2023 are now bearing the brunt of it.

It is true that the northern region has consistently been overlooked in terms of appointments and various infrastructure development programs under Tinubu’s leadership, as he has prioritized his personal and ethnic interests above all else.

This is precisely why the Northern region needs to become more aware. They ought to understand that the path Tinubu is taking regarding the 2027 political landscape may not be ideal for Nigeria’s future. Therefore, they must come together and express their concerns unanimously in 2027.

I wish the northern leaders understood that if Tinubu returns to power in 2027, the north will face significant disregard. Both Tinubu and the APC do not genuinely care about their interests.

As of now, at minimum five opposition governors are planning to switch allegiance to the APC not out of support for Tinubu but owing to significant political pressure, threats, and coercion. Meanwhile, those staying with their current parties must agree to ensure their respective states back Tinubu; failing this, they risk losing their chances for reelection.

Tinubu doesn’t trust the strength of the populace. He aims to manipulate the electoral outcomes, seize control, and escape with it just as he did back in 2023.

“If the North can’t see the omen of imminent regional stagnation and destruction, they will regret it if they do nothing to stop Tinubu in 2027.

“Tinubu does not believe in democracy and that is why he has succeeded in ensuring that PDP, Labour Party and any other opposition parties are enmeshed in intractable internal crisis in order to deny capable and qualified aspirants platforms to challenge him in 2027.

“His singular aim is to retain power in 2027 by hook or crook. He is doing all he can at the detriment of Nigerians, a complete negation of the oath of office he swore to on assumption of office as President.”

He lamented that at the moment, Nigeria is on auto pilot under his watch, yet he wants to force himself on Nigerians again in 2027.

He added: “Nigerians must on their part, prepare to reject him. It is the only patriotic thing to do as citizens. As citizens, we have a duty to reject a bad, clueless and rudderless leader and do all that is legally necessary to prevent him from returning to power.”

He urged the opposition leaders in the country to ensure that their coalition succeeds in defeating Tinubu in 2027.

“The alliance serves the best interests of Nigeria and its people. Therefore, I urge the coalition leaders to prioritize Nigeria and its citizens, as their decisions will aid in reshaping the nation and securing its future,” he stated.
