… referring to the same individuals who irritated GEJ at their job once more.
A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Niger state, Mr. Jonathan Tsado Vatsa has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prove his detractors wrong by taking decisive steps towards ending rising insecurity to avoid truncating his second term chances.
With the security situation getting worse as no day passes without news of being killed by a group or individually, Vatsa encouraged the President to prove that he’s not a weakling before those he described as ‘political merchants’, whose only job is to undermine any government they feel is being left out by creating insecurity.
Vatsa, who previously served as the Publicity Secretary of the party in Niger State and later as Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, explicitly stated that the current unrest in Plateau and Benue States is politically driven by the same individuals. Their aim is to foster an atmosphere of instability to undermine the government’s reputation before the 2027 national elections.
When comparing the current state of Nigerian politics to events during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s attempt at re-election for his second term, Vatsa, addressing reporters in Minna, voiced worries over scenarios where certain politicians might deliberately destabilize both Nigeria as a whole and individual states just because they feel excluded from the power structures.
While the political merchants intended to undermine the government and sway public opinion against it as the elections approach, Vatsa called for a hard stance to dislodge them else they stand stronger to stop his 2027 re-election.
Before the 2015 elections, Former President Jonathan encountered a similar situation, according to Vatsa. He further stated, “Their aim is to create division among Nigerians regarding the Tinubu government, just like how those same individuals in 2014 pitted Christians and Muslims against the Goodluck Jonathan administration, employing insecurity as a tool to manipulate public sentiment.”
“They funded Boko-Haram, orchestrated bombings across Nigeria, including Abuja, and organized the kidnapping of the Chibok school girls, all to ridicule and make the Jonathan administration unpopular. These same people are now revisiting their strategies in the build-up to the 2027 general elections”.
“The recent bloodshed in Plateau and Benue forms part of this strategy, with the focus being on the year 2027. The administration ought to identify these political dealers who consistently incite unrest when they’re not included in the government.”
They think they have control over Nigeria, and if they aren’t part of the ruling government, they will resort to malicious tactics to destabilize the country. This became evident during Jonathan’s time in office as he prepared for his re-election bid.
Vatsa, who serves as one of the Special Advisers to Governor Umar Bago, is urging the President to implement strong measures to address the deteriorating security situation, as Tinubu has now become a focal point for the ongoing acts of violence and widespread killings throughout the nation.
