West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Denounces Pahalgam Terror Attack, Calls for Strong Action Against Perpetrators – International Edition (English)

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday condemned the
Pahalgam terror attack
in
Jammu and Kashmir
and called for stringent measures against those responsible.

Mamata Banerjee stated, “I completely denounce this assault. We will examine the specifics subsequently. For now, we reject this deed outright. Terrorism knows no creed and must not be excused. A significant military presence was evident. Nonetheless, I won’t delve into this issue presently. We demand robust measures against those responsible.”

Banerjee stated that three individuals from the state were amongst those who died in the incident.

The individuals from the state who have been identified as victims are
Bitan Adhikari
and
Samir Guha
from Kolkata, and
Manish Ranjan
from Purulia.

“At the Cabinet meeting, we denounced the assault and adopted a resolution. I communicated with Bitan’s spouse and sibling. Additionally, I talked to the eldest brother of the individual who was harmed in Behala. Our support is with them all,” she stated.

Previously, Mamata Banerjee had extended her sympathies to the families and guaranteed them of the state’s assistance during this challenging period.

On social media, X, Mamata Banerjee stated, “Based on the newest updates we received, three individuals from our state lost their lives in the tragic events in Kashmir. We are making all necessary preparations through our administrative team at Delhi Airport to assist the families of those who were affected as well as facilitate their travel onwards to Kolkata. The Resident Commissioner’s office in Delhi remains in contact with these families. I am closely monitoring this situation, and our top officials are actively involved.”

The assault that occurred on Tuesday in the Pahalgam sector of Anantnag district transformed a location previously renowned for its peace into an area of sorrow. This incident marked one of the most significant terrorist attacks in the region following the repeal of Article 370 in 2019.
