as stated in an official statement on Wednesday.
As per an official statement from the BSF, “In the evening of April 22, 2025, alert soldiers at the Border Outpost Nawada within the jurisdiction of the 119th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) prevented an effort to transport weapons across the border from India into Bangladesh in the Malda district of West Bengal.”
The mission started as soon as the BSF Jawans spotted two dubious persons moving towards the frontier.
After informing their teammates, the soldiers alerted the smugglers, yet when they tried to escape back towards Indian land, the BSF personnel pursued them.
Nevertheless, the smugglers succeeded in evading capture by exploiting the poor visibility and the lay of the land.
A thorough search operation was initiated in the region, resulting in the finding of a bag holding 3 handguns, 6 clips, and 13 bullets.
The confiscated goods have been transferred to the appropriate agencies for additional legal actions.
The Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier commended the jawans for their keen awareness and commitment to protecting the border, highlighting that their watchfulness was crucial in thwarting the attempted contraband activity.
The probe remains ongoing as authorities work towards identifying and catching the smugglers involved in the alleged unlawful operation. (ANI)
