Ogidi is my community, Ijumu is my local government area, and Kogi is my state. Reverend Bishop, sir, we are delighted that you are introducing this initiative to Ogidi. There’s no need for begging—we consider this as our project, and we will back it wholeheartedly. It has now turned into our project, not just yours.
HRM Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, praised the Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, hailing him as a boon for both the Church and the whole local government area.
Oba Ayeni commended Bishop Ojo for his continuous prayers and for bringing innovations that have transformed the Diocese.
The Chairman of the occasion and Chief Launcher, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, appealed to public-spirited individuals to support the college project generously, towards producing reputable health workers for the future of Okunland, Kogi State, and the nation.

On his part, the Ologidi of Ogidi, HRM Oba Rabiu Olademiji Sule, said he understands the value of the college, hence the donation of land free for the project.
Earlier, the Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Prof Paul Ojo, explained that the establishment of the college was in continuation of the efforts of the founding fathers of the Church in building schools.
In his words, “This is the first higher institution on the soil of Ijumu Kingdom—to God alone be all the glory. The vision for this college came as a result of prayers and the age-long yearnings for such infrastructural development in Okunland in general.
“We considered the role that corporate bodies—especially the Christian Church, such as the Anglican and Roman Catholic Missions, whom the Lord has used and is still using for the educational development of this area (Ijumu, Kabba, Bunu, Ekiti, Akoko, etc.)—can play to complement government efforts in bridging the gap and raising generations of graduate nurses and other health professionals from this area and beyond.”
He observed that upon the commencement of full operations, the college will generate healthcare professionals who will be beneficial both domestically and globally.
This College of Nursing Sciences holds a special place in our hearts, and I urge each one of us to come together and make sure it is established here within Okunland. Future generations, including our children yet to be born, will find it easily accessible. Choosing a career will become simpler due to numerous local options, making it easier for them to pursue nursing.
Professor Ojo, while seeking public backing for the project’s success, emphasized that the college’s motto is: “There Is Healing in Gilboa.”
