The American Music Awards has shortlisted five Afrobeat artists for their forthcoming award event scheduled for May.
The nominations were
announced
via the social media platform on Wednesday.
The artists up for nomination include Tems, Wizkid, Asake, Rema, and the South African vocalist Tyla.
These artists were shortlisted for the ‘Favorite Afrobeats Artist’ category.
The Afrobeat musicians up for nomination have already made significant strides in 2025, with Rema and Tyla recently taking the stage at Coachella.

Also, he was the main act at the Dreamville Festival in North Carolina not long ago.
Several of these musicians have brought Afrobeats into the global limelight and have received international acclaim, including Grammy Award nominations.
South African Singer Tyla was also nominated for the category of favourite female R&B artist alongside Sza, Munilong, Khelani and Summer walker.
